We arrived safely with the additional 5 members of our team (Kenny,
Lynn, Adam, Dale, and myself) after two uneventful flights from Ottawa
to Toronto and then on to Puerto Plata. It is great to be here and we
were warmly greated by our Sequoia team and our friends from the
Iglesia Templo Biblico. Our accomodations will be excellent with two
common rooms with bunks for the guys and another room for the ladies,
including a large open area to congregate and a kitchen with two
bathrooms. Tonight we dined on lamb, avocado, and type of yam akin to
the type I have had in Africa (not like our Canadian yams). It was
all quite tasty. It appears we will be well fed. The team got a good
start on preparing the foundation for the house today and tomorrow we
will pour the concrete floor. It should be an exciting day. In order
to get internet access we walked the 10 minutes to the church and it
was fun to see all the activity as people were enjoying the evening in
the cafes and common spaces along the route. Of course we are all
enjoying the warm weather especially knowing that it is -25 a home.
We are looking forward to demonstrating God´s love in practical ways
this week. It should be an excellent experience. Thanks for your
prayers. Blessings, Ryan Dawson
Hey guys - though the "all-inclusive resort" was a good start for a place to stay when we started the DR CC partnership, this looks like the real "McCoy" - staying right in the village, right near the church. I am so jealous! Make sure to say hi from me to the church tomorrow Ry. Great job Michele & Carolyn for persevering and making this partnership go to the next level! Praying for you all ...
