We have our team in place, our tickets bought and our church family has blessed us with the funds needed for the project! God has shown his hand is on this project by the way he has moved in the hearts of our church family. He has also provided plane tickets at a discounted price at a time when fares seem to be climbing!
Can't wait to see what God is going to do next!

Our Project
Sequoia Community Church Global Missions Plan 2010-2011
History of involvement in the village of Montellano, Domican Republic.
Sequoia Community Church first connected with the village of Montellano, located 20 minutes outside Puerto Plata, five years ago through the child sponsorship program of Compassion Canada and another American missions organization working in the DR. Due to the strong trust relationships that have been built, and the obvious need, Sequoia entered a church-to-church partnership in 2010 with Iglesia Templo Biblico, the church in the village of Montellano. The primary focus of our partnership will be to support ITB and their church family through community development projects, teaching in the Sunday school, outreach, and meeting additional needs. Our key contact at ITB is a field missionary, named Benjamin Castillo and he will be the liaison between our two churches. It is our desire to come alongside the community leaders and to support them in the work they are doing for their people, and Ben will help idenitfy the needs and set up the community development projects for us to complete.
Present focus
We have a trip scheduled for Jan 2011. The project for this trip will be to build a new house for a young woman in this community who is a single mother of three children; a fourteen year old daughter and twin boys age eight. Her husband died when the twins were born. The house they live in now will be torn down and the new one built in its place.
Future projects
Sequoia wishes to have a continuing presence in this community. Our future goal is to purchase a mission house in the village and send small rotating teams many weeks of the year to complete community development projects similar to our 2011 project. We also have a desire to support the education of the children in Montellano through the donation of school uniforms and supplies. These goals will be put in place as we are able to raise the funds required.
To donate to Sequoia Global missions please contact our bookkeeper Sherry Wilson.
